Some of our S1 pupils have been working on a project funded by Historic Environment Scotland called ‘Cook up the Castle’. We have had local historians come in to school over lunch times to teach us all about what life was like in the castle back when it was functioning. We focused a lot on the food that would have been eaten in the castle, both upstairs and downstairs. We then had a day of workshops which resulted in the pupils adopting a character from the castle, dressing up and making mini films. These will then be projected onto the castle as part of a celebration of the history of MacLellan’s Castle.

The pupils learned a lot about their local history but also gained some new skills in video production and acting. A great experience for them all.
