Exam Desks

Exams Cancelled

As you will have no doubt heard in the National press, the Scottish Government has decided that in the interest of fairness across the whole country, all National Exams have been cancelled.

The decision to cancel the National 5 exams was taken a while ago and we have been working to make sure that systems are in place to allow teachers to accurately estimate pupils’ achievements.  The decision to cancel the Higher and Advanced Higher exams was announced on Tuesday but was not wholly unexpected.

We await more details from the SQA on how the process of estimating grades for these exams is to take place but we already have robust procedures in place to support our estimates of these grades too.  It is, however, certain that estimates will be based on a range of pieces of evidence including, but not limited to, formal assessments or school exams.

It is crucial that students realise that all of their work has the potential to influence their final grade and they apply themselves fully to their studies and assessments.  When we have more information we will be in touch to let you know.
