They did it! Since January, our talented cast and crew have been working on Kirkcudbright Academy’s production of Grease. We jammed term 3 full of rehearsals so that we could ease off during the SQA exam period. These fantastic young people have spent many hours rehearsing at lunch times, after school and even on the weekend and during the Easter holidays. Their hard work has paid off with each and everyone of them demonstrating commitment and enthusiasm during our three performances this week.
We are beyond proud of what they have achieved collectively. A pupil centred show, with young people working front of house, backstage, on sound and lights, in the band, on hair and make-up and of course, the stars on the stage. A team effort across the whole school, building real life skills within the Creative Industries.
Thank you to all of the staff who have supported this project and helped bring it together over the last five months.
To our leaving S6 pupils who were involved….. we finally got to do a musical together before you left!! Thank you for your resilience during the tough times and for having confidence to come back and put yourselves out there. We are phenomenally proud of you. Come back and visit us at Christmas to see the panto!
Thank you to the community for your amazing support and warm reactions, it has really helped build confidence across the week.
Thank you to The Old Schoolhouse, Feast and Kirkcudbright Galleries Cafe for their very kind donations to our raffle, which will help us so much to cover the cost of the show and allow us to work towards our Christmas Pantomime, Alice and Wonderland. Thank you also to Thomson’s Newsagent who are always really supportive, allowing us to sell tickets there.
