On the morning of Wednesday 11th September we set off to the beautiful Lake District. This year Langdale could expect to receive 61 excited s1 pupils.
When we arrived we were met with our first challenge, a hike up a big hill to reach our hostel – it was too steep for the bus to get all of the way up.
Once we were there, fed and unpacked we all set off for a big walk together. We discovered a huge cave that we could go all of the way into and explore and we had a shot at trying to skim stones across a big beautiful lake. As night time approached we were taken backout, into the forest this time, to spot some wildlife and to play some spooky games in the dark.
The following day was jam packed with different activities: team building games, archery, den building and fire making. Unfortunately it poured down with rain for the entire day so we decided to all head back into the house to get into our pjs and drink hot chocolate. An impromptu talent show followed and we all had great fun in the games room and the social areas. By bed time the teachers were praying for an early night; that didn’t happen of course!

On our last morning we built rockets to launch eggs (eggonaut) into space. We had great fun watching these go flying up, some even higher than the house. The highlight was watching Mr Boyce trying to rescue one rocket from the roof!
By the time we arrived back at the Academy we were all exhausted and in need of our own beds and a good nights sleep.
Langdale 2019 was a brilliant trip and our pupil’s excelled themselves with their behaviour and their manners.
