Welcome everyone to the start of our New Timetable.
It’s a strange beginning with having to work from home, for both students and staff, however I am sure we will all show we can get through these difficult times.
Below is some advice we have sent out to students to help engage with the Learning and Teaching delivered during the coming weeks.
Due to the current circumstances, resulting in the closure of schools, at least up to the summer holidays, all learning and teaching will now be delivered online. The next 6 weeks is crucial for pupils, especially those who are starting their certificate courses, as everyone must keep up with the work delivered to ensure you do not fall behind in your course work. It is important that pupils take note of the following:
Teams should be looked upon as your online classroom, where you can access work set by your teacher and find resources to help you complete any coursework set. It is the main area your teacher will post instructions and direct you to work for the week ahead. Your teacher will set a time when he/she will be online to answer any questions live, this may be through communicating via posts or by arranging a Teams Meeting.
Show My Homework will be used to inform you of any tasks or assignments set by your teacher, he /she may ask you to complete the task or assignment through Show My Homework or direct you to the work set within Teams, you must ensure you click ‘Submitted’ in Show My Homework even if the work was set in Teams.
Pupils should check the Teams site and Show My Homework, every morning, to find out if any tasks or assignments have been added, and to read any posts entered by your teacher. It is your responsibility to do this. Also check your school email daily.
A weekly register of pupil engagement will be taken by your teacher, so make sure you keep up to date and log in regularly as we can see who was online, when, and what you were doing.
You should contact your teacher on a weekly basis, usually at the arranged time when your teacher will be online or by posting a message, even if you don’t need any help.
Where pupils are having difficulty accessing or completing work they should message their teacher immediately through Teams, do not leave any issues/problems to the deadline date set.
Your teacher will inform you as to how much time you should be spending on the work for each subject each week, however a rough guide would be:
- S2 & S3 – 30 mins for every period you would get of the subject
- National 4/5 – 2-3 hours per subject
- Higher/Adv Higher – 3-4 hours per subject
