The Pupil Leadership Team

Kirkcudbright Academy operates a Pupil Leadership Team elected by their Peer and School Staff.  The structure remains very similar to taht of past years with House Captains replacing the Head Boy and Girl, who are supported by House Prefects.

There will be 3 House Captains, 1 from each of, McLellan, Selkirk and Stewart, with 6 House Prefects, 2 from each House. The House Captains and Prefects will be supported by Mentor Teachers.

The role of the House Captains will be:

  • Lead the Pupil Leadership Team.
  • Attend Pupil Leadership meetings and represent the Pupil Leadership Team at Pupil Council.
  • Represent the Academy at School and Community Events
  • Take a lead role in the planning and delivery of House Activities, Whole School Activities and Peer Education Activities
  • Organise and manage S6 Subject Ambassadors
  • Liase with Community Groups

The role of the House Prefects will be:

  • Assist the House Captains in their roles
  • Deputise for Captains at meeting or events when required
  • Perform whole school duties and model the highest standards
  • Manage and maintain 6th year common areas
  • Organise celebration and social events
  • Engage with pupils to encourage pride in house, school and community identity
