The pupils and staff at Kirkcudbright Academy marked Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November by holding a whole school Assembly and Wreath laying. The event, which was organised and presented by the school Prefect Team, began with a presentation by the Head Boy and Girl on the meaning of Remembrance and why we should remember, this was followed by a video depicting conflict through the ages from the First World War through to the fighting in Afghanistan.

The exhortation was read simultaneously by the Head Boy, in the Assembly Hall and by one of the school Prefects at the school memorial prior to the laying of the wreaths. Following the playing of the Last Post by music teacher Miss Irving the 2 minute silence was observed, this was brought to an end by Miss Irving playing the Reveille.
