Following some intensive fundraising and grant applications by the Academy Parent Council were are pleased to open our newly refurbished Library to our Students here at the school. This will hopefully provide a stimulating, yet peaceful, area for our students to engage in a variety of activities from study to quiet reading.
The library will be open to all students during lunchtimes, when it will be supervise by a member of staff at the school, allowing research and homework activities on the computer provision. The soft seating area is also ideal for quiet reading from the range of fiction and non-fiction books stocked on the library shelves, or from literature brought in by the students themselves. Student will also have the option of signing out any of the books available in the library to allow them to continue their reading in class or at home.

More formal seating provides an opportunity for students to engage in group work activities, continuing projects started in class, along with their peers, or for small groups to socialise in a quiet space away from the more active social areas around the school.
The library can easily be organised to provide accommodation for both classes to be brought to access the resources available or for small assemblies and meetings to take place.
The facilities within the library also provide a quiet working environment for our S6 students working on Open/Distance Learning Activities or for independent study.
Many thanks to all who were involved in the raising of the funds and the organisation and preparation of the library before and after the refurbishment.
