About Us

Uniform

Students at the Academy are expected to wear School Uniform, both at school and when representing the Academy Following discussion at Parent Council, with senior students and with manufacturers, we have revised the school’s dress code in order to promote school uniform and clarify what is acceptable. When in school, all pupils will wear:

  • White shirt and school tie
  • Black skirt or trousers (no sportswear)
  • Any jumper, cardigan or waistcoat worn should also be in black; no other colours or designs are acceptable. Patterns and logos are not acceptable.
  • Black shoes with black soles and no motif
  • An enamel badge with the school crest on it is available for those who do not wish to wear a blazer or black jacket.

A large majority of people wanted a “hoodie” to be part of the school uniform and we have decided that we will
introduce one. The hoodie can be worn as part of the school uniform and pupils will not be asked to remove it in
lessons unless there are safety concerns around wearing one, e.g. in Science or Technology. The only hoodie
that will be acceptable as part of the uniform is shown below.

There are several overarching principles for school uniform: it must not have any visible logos (this is to avoid ‘logo shaming’ as a form of bullying), it should be smart, and sportswear is for sports – it is not acceptable for school uniform.
