Kirkcudbright Academy Parent Council
Welcome to Kirkcudbright Academy
Parents or Carers of pupils at the Academy are all members of the Kirkcudbright Academy Parent Forum, Representing your views, and acting as a line of communication between you and the school, is your Kirkcudbright Academy Parent Council.
The Council was established in line with the Scottish Government’s ‘Parental Involvement Act’ 2007, and is made up of Parent/Carer members, a Teacher representative, the Rector (in an advisory capacity) coopted members from the wider community by invitation, and Councillors from Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Even during the Covid crisis we continued to assist in fundraising, and be active in aspects of pastoral care to provide support and assistance for all members of the School Community. We meet on alternate months in hybrid format, with those who are able attending in person in the school library and remote attendance via Zoom.
About Parent Councils
Parent Councils have an important role to play in ensuring that children’s education is enriched by parents’ valuable life experience, individual personal skills and unique knowledge of their own child.
